EXXON-AZERBAIJAN FUNDS AGRICULTURAL PROJECTS
Operating company “Exxon-Azerbaijan” is funding projects aimed to improve living conditions of refugees and IDPs settled in Sabirabad, Bilasuvar and Fuzuli province of Azerbaijan. Using Exxon’s financial help, International Rescue Committee is implementing a long-term projects to expand possibilities of the Garabakh Regional Association of Farmers and familiarizing its members with high-level cultivating technologies.
The funds allotted have allowed purchasing agricultural equipment for refugees and IDPs. Group of IRC economists conducted courses to develop business for association members. Experts also assist them to study the cultivation technology of sunflower, cereals, forage and root crops.
To conduct tests IRC and Garabakh Regional Association of Farmers sowed wheat in each province.
IRC director for Azerbaijan Brown Coks said that the committee pays a special attention to cooperation with private sector. Financial support of Exxon opens wide perspectives to establish close contacts with communities in order to ensure a stable development of agriculture.
