FIRST INT’L CONFERENCE DEDICATED TO DEVELOPMENT OF BANKING SYSTEM ENDED

First international conference dedicated to development of the banking system, titled “Development of Banking system in Azerbaijan” ended in Baku on 14 November. The event, organizers of which were National Bank of Azerbaijan, SC “Atabank” and “AtaHolding”, was attended by such representatives of international financial structures as European Bank for reconstruction and Development, International Monetary Fund, World Bank, 15 leading banks, audit and insurance companies.

Participants of the Conference discussed issues on topics: “Banking legislation”, “Banking system and real sector”, “Privatization of state banks”. Member of the board of the National Bank Rufat Aslanov, chairman of the Board of “KochBank Azerbaijan” Nurcan Akturk, president of banking association of Azerbaijan Zakir Nuriyev spoke of the work of the seminar, where was made a number of proposals for reforms in the banking system.

Speaking at the closing sitting of the Conference, chairman of the Board of the National Bank of Azerbaijan Elman Rustamov noted that banking system of Azerbaijan would do its best for realization of opening of the 600 thousand working places that the head of Azerbaijani state promised.

Organizers of the Forum are to conduct the second conference next year.
