FIRST SESSION OF COORDINATION COUNCIL OF SPECA HELD
The deputy foreign minister of Azerbaijan Mahmud Mammadguliyev presided over the session with participation of representatives of Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, the economic and social commissions of the United Nations on the countries of Europe, Asia and Pacific Ocean, the Program of development of the United Nations and the Asian Bank of Development.
M. Mammadguliev in his statement at session spoke about strengthening of activity of SPECA and carried out in this connection, reforms of management, elimination of the available problems suggested by Azerbaijan for application within the framework of the Programs. He has noted importance of attraction to activity of the Program of bilateral and multilateral donors and strengthening of partnership within SPECA with other organizations of cooperation of region. Others spoke of the judgments and offers on prospects of development SPECA.
In conclusion, have been considered and authorized the document on joining of Afghanistan to SPECA, and authorized reports of sessions of the some working groups.
At session, also were discussed the work done on May 25-27 this year in Astana of the international conference on the topic “Strengthening of sub-regional economic cooperation in the Central Asia and further role of SPECA”, reports of working groups of the Program on transport, trade, statistics, gender and economy, the question on the initiative of creation of network of institutes of economic researches of SPECA and other documents.
Also was discussed preparation to forthcoming in June, Baku, 1st session of the Council of Management and Economic forum of SPECA. The high estimation was given to the work done by Azerbaijan within the framework of the Program.
