On the invitation of the US Secretary of State Colin Powell, Deputy Prime-Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Abdullah Gul left for an official visit to the United States of America, on July 22.

In the course of a 3-day visit, Mr. Gul will meet with Vice-President Dick Cheney, Secretary of State Colin Powell, Minister of Defense Donald Ramsfeld, US President national security aide Condoleeze Rice, Chairman of IMF Horst Kцhler, members of the US Congress.

Besides, Abdullah Gul will receive editor of ‘The Washington Post’ newspaper, meet with representatives of the Turkish-American Friendship Society and Jewish organizations of this country, correspondent of AzerTAj for USA reported.

Before his departure to the USA, Mr. Abdullah Gul stated that not only situation in Iraq, but also cooperation between the two countries in political and economic spheres, regional and international issues would be discussed with the American officials.
