Games £1 billion boost for UK
Baku, Januray 10 (AZERTAC). Critics of the London Olympics were today urged to embrace the opportunities presented by the Games and "stop grumbling".
David Cameron said the event would bring in a £1billion boost to the economy when 200 executives from Google to Goldman Sachs arrive on the eve of the Games for the biggest business conference ever seen.
Mr Cameron also revealed plans for six Olympic venues after the Games with Londoners able to hold mass weddings and "corporate motivation days" there.
Details of contracts for the newly-completed handball arena, aquatics centre and ArcelorOrbit Tower visitor attraction - worth a combined £350million - were announced during a Cabinet meeting in the Olympic Park to mark 200 days to go to the Games.
After the meeting, Mr Cameron, Boris Johnson and Lord Coe toured the 17,500-capacity aquatics centre, which hosts the swimming and diving events. They chatted to diver Tom Daley and the Prime Minister said to him: "I expect you`ve got to use quite a bit of nerve to jump off there."
As London`s third largest indoor arena, the handball venue will host concerts, sports events and even large weddings, potentially for east London`s Asian community.
