The Eighth International "round table" of European ombudsmen was held in Norwegian capital Oslo on November 2-5. Ombudsman of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elmira Suleymanova participated in the conference. According to the press-service of the ombudsman`s office, representatives of 35 European countries gathered at the "round table." The conference organized for the first time jointly with of the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human rights Alvalo Gil-Robles and ombudsman of Europe Nikiforos Diamanduros was focused on "Legal status of prisoners", "The rights of members of minorities", "Access to official documents by the public", "The respective powers of ombudsmen and the courts."

Speaking at the first section`s sitting, Elmira Suleymanova has informed the conference participants on over million refugees from the Armenian aggression, on birth of more than 100 thousand children in camps and mass violation of their fundamental rights. She also dwelt on the legal status of prisoners, and updated on the conditions they were subject to and health situation.

The ombudsman has told the King of Norway attended the opening ceremony of the conference, and then the country`s parliament Speaker and Mayor of Oslo about the situation in Azerbaijan and the work carried out here in the sphere of human rights protection.

While staying in Norway, Elmira Suleymanova had meetings with Azerbaijanis living in this country.
