GEORGIA TO CREATE RESERVE ARMED FORCES
President of Georgia ordered to set up a governmental commission on creation of reserve armed forces under the presidency of state minister Zurab Melikishvili, AzerTAj correspondent reported. Premier Zurab Zhvania will coordinate the Commission’s work. The main tasks of the reserved armed forces are considered strengthening of defensive capacity of the Republic, abolishing sequences of natural calamities and other questions.
Minister Melikishvili stated: “The reserve forces will be given uniform, and in emergency – and arms. The arms, however, will not be kept in hands, but be kept in the district and regional police departments. Georgia does not prepare for war, but we are obliged to defend our country in one, ten or hundreds years. Should we want to have a single Georgia, and be proud of our Republic, then, each citizen should make his contribution to strengthening of the country”.
