***
The delegation of Georgia led by State Minister Zurab Zhvania visited the Sangachal Terminal on December 27.
The guests were updated on the energy projects being realized in Azerbaijan. As was noted, the first oil from the contract area “Chirag” was extracted in November 1997. To this end, the first oil platform was fabricated at 140 km off the Caspian shore from which pipeline was laid to the Sangachal Terminal. The oil extracted by the International Operating Company is delivered to the world markets through two oil pipelines Baku-Supsa, Baku-Novorossiysk. The oilfield “Azeri” is being explored and the first oil is expected by early 2005. Speaking of the Terminal’s enlarging, it was said that the terminal would be the biggest offshore structure of such kind in the world with capacity of 1 million barrel of oil per day.
