A class for blind children was opened in school #27 of Sumgayit city under the Project of “Cooperation of German and Caucasian partner cities”, funded by the Ministry of Economic Development and Cooperation of Germany, Shafiga Haciahmadova, regional coordinator of the project, said.

Some 78 blind children in four groups will learn to read using Braille method and this will help them to master their favourite professions and become a full-rights citizen of the country.

In collaboration with German partners the children were provided with the special accessories.

The opening ceremony was attended by the guests from Ludwigshafen - cadastre experts Peter Liebenau and Ms. Yudit Raber.

The 29-year ties between Sumgayit and Ludwigshafen, Germany, have strengthened enough of late.

Since March of 2001, the German Community on Technical Cooperation implemented 15 micro-projects in Sumgayit, including construction of sports ground in school #30, establishment of German language center and opening of special school for children with pancreatic diabetes.
