HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE DAY MARKED
Opening the ceremony State Advisor for National Policy Affairs Idayat Orujev read out the message of President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev to the Jewish community of Azerbaijan. “It is necessary to remember the lessons of history and let next generations know of the heroism of Jewish nation for the sake of their national and human dignity”, I. Orujev said. He noted that misdeeds committed by fascists are the national tragedy not only for one nation or state but crimes targeting all human race as a whole. Then, ambassador of Israel to Azerbaijan Eitan Naeh read out the letter of president of the State of Israel Moshe Katsav. Ambassador told of the role of this tragedy in the history of Jewish people. Then, rabbi of Jewish community of Azerbaijan Meer Bruk prayed for the victims of fascism.
