How to lose weight without suffering
Baku, January 8 (AZERTAC). Food is a huge part of the social landscape. Families and friends celebrate special events or simply spend time together with meals. Every holiday and season has its own special treats. When you`re restricting the things you can eat, it can feel more like a punishment than something good for your body. If you throw in long, tedious sessions at the gym and the obsessive thoughts that come with dieting, it can make you one unhappy camper. If you`re willing to change your approach to weight loss, you may find you have more success and enjoyment.
Stop dieting altogether, just like that. If you don`t like it, you`re not likely to keep doing it long-term. Take the liberated approach to food and give yourself permission to eat whatever you want.
Stop categorizing foods as good or bad. All foods, even the greasiest cheeseburger, can fit into a balanced diet when eaten in moderation. Teach yourself -- and this takes time and practice -- to make good food choices most of the time. Start one meal at a time. Don`t obsess over what you`re eating.
Learn to balance your eating over a longer span of time than one meal or one day. Nutrition is a big-picture process and what you miss one day, you can make up for the next.
Pick exercise you enjoy. The American College of Sports Medicine recommends 30 minutes of exercise per day, but nowhere in its guidelines does it say you have to stare at a treadmill belt or lift heavy objects over your head.
Throw your clock away and let your body tell you when it`s time to eat. Listen and feel for your hunger, then eat until you feel satisfied, not full. Eat again the next time you feel hungry, no matter what time of day it is, and stop when you feel satisfied.
Enlist a buddy, so when you find yourself slipping back into that torturous diet mentality, she can snap you out of it.
Trust yourself and your ability to nourish and care for yourself in a way that`s mentally and physically satisfying.
