“I am sure that Azerbaijan will successfully organize 6th World Championship in e-Sports”, IeSF president
As known, the 6-th e-Sport World Championship Baku 2014 will be the greatest IeSF event to be held on November 13-16 in Baku.
For the first time in e-Sports history, the Championship will be supported directly by a governmental organization, as IeSF is working with the Azerbaijan Sport and Youth Ministry.
A Memorandum of Understanding concerning 6th World Championship in e-sports in Baku was signed in May current year.
To this end, a delegation led by IeSF president Mr. Byung Hun Jun has met with the Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov.
At a meeting, Minister Azad Rahimov noted that as a result of attention and care of the head of state, the President of National Olympic Committee Ilham Aliyev for sport, this sphere promptly develops, including e-Sport. “On the second of September, 2014 the head of state signed an Order on measures for carrying out on November 12-16 this year in Baku of “The first global forum on youth policy” and the e-Sport World Championship in Baku.” Besides, in Azerbaijan, the national e-Sport championship is annually held. So, last year in the 8th E-Sport championship of the republic more than 2500 people took part”, Rahimov noted.
The championship will take place in one of the country's central halls Baku Crystal Hall.
According to the official rules, the host country has the right to offer additional 3-4 disciplines.
The president of IeSF, in his turn, highly appreciated the work carried out on development of various spheres of sport, including e-Sport in Azerbaijan and expressed confidence that Azerbaijan will successfully organize the 6th e-Sport World Cup.
In the 6th e-Sport World Championship more than 250 people from 33 countries of the world will take part.
Electronic sport is a well-developing activity in Azerbaijan. The Cyber Sport Federation of the country has been established in June 2011.
IeSF, established in 2008, is an International Federation, which manages all e-Sports activity in sports society. The Federation aims to make e-Sports recognized as an official sport discipline.
