ICT Minister: Azerspace-1 has expanded its activity

“Azerspace-1, Azerbaijan`s first communications satellite, has expanded its activity towards developing the country`s space industry,” said minister of communication and high technologies Ali Abbasov as he addressed a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.
“More than 130 foreign TV channels, as well and communication systems, including Georgian, Turkish, Russian ones are using the satellite on a commercial basis. Productive activity of Azercosmos OJSC generated a revenue worth $9 million last year, said the Minister, adding the figure is forecast to make $16 million in 2015.
Mr Abbasov also hailed the work of Asersky satellite, saying it already teamed up with a French satellite to embark on commercial activity.
The Minister also said Azerspace-2 satellite will be put in orbit in 2017.
