INDEPENDENCE DAY MARKED IN SUMGAIT
Heads of the city, municipality, industrial enterprises, offices and organizations as well as representatives of public visited the memorial complex of Marty’s Alley, laid a wreath to Eternity Fire and flowers to graves of brave sons, given their lives for independence and territorial integrity of motherland.
A reception was given in the evening in Chemists’ Palace.
State anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan sounded.
The head of executive authorities of the city Vaghif Aliyev congratulated the audience on the national holiday - the Independence Day. He told on history of the first democratic state in the East, its way, spoke on complicated, contradictory situation in the republic early 90s. That time, Aliyev said, Heydar Aliyev became a President by people’s will.
Stability, intensive development of entrepreneurship, successful economic growth, and development and implementation of oil strategy as well as stable moral and psychological climate are related to his name. Everything is the evidence of successefully-fulfilled domestic and foreign policy carried out by the head of the state.
Presidential elections showed that people of Sumgait as well as the whole people of Azerbaijan appraise, accept and support Heydar Aliyev’s political course represented by a young and perspective politician Ilham Aliyev.
Elderly, well-known people, founders of the city, heads of a number of organizations and enterprises were present at the reception followed by a concert.
