INTERIOR MINISTER OF AUSTRIA VISITING AZERBAIJAN
On July 12, Interior Minister of Austria Ernst Strasser arrived in Baku for a 3-day visit, invited by the Interior Minister of Azerbaijan Colonel-General Ramil Usubov.On the same day, Interior Minister of Azerbaijan met with Mr. Strasser.Having greeted the guest, Ramil Usubov thanked his colleague for coming to Baku. Azerbaijani Minister updated Mr. Strasser on the times of troubles Azerbaijan passed through for 11 years of independence. However, due to the efforts of the President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev criminal situation has been improved much. Now, Azerbaijan is the most stable country in the CIS area. Then, he told about the large-scale reforms conducted in Azerbaijan as well as laws enacted in the spheres of economics that are up to European standards. The Minister stressed the experience and vocational training of relevant services of Austria in combat against terrorism and other issues. The colonel-general hoped that such visits would stimulate the development of Azerbaijan-Austria ties and further expansion of cooperation.Interior Minister of Austria Ernst Strasser thanked for the warm welcome and highly appreciated the professional activity of Ramil Usubov. The Guest reminded the memorandum signed in April 2000, during Mr.Usubov’s visit to Vienna. Hence, he urged the Azerbaijani side to combat against crime, drug addiction, and illegal migration, thus, making common cause together to restore stability in the region. Mr. Ernst Strasser suggested signing an agreement on law-enforcement activity to stop illegal migration and deportation of migrants, their extradition.***On July 13, Federal Miniser of Internal Affairs of Austria Ernst Strasseer and his retinue visited Martyr’s Alley. The guests laid flowers on the graves of shehids died for the freedom, sovereignty of Azerbaijan and its territorial integrity and as well as a wreath on a memorial “Eternal flame”.On the same day, Minister completed his mission and left for Austria.
