INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP FOR JUDGES CONDUCTED
The workshop participants heard the reports entitled “Standards of the European Convention on Human Rights and legislation of Azerbaijan”, speeches of international and local experts as to the right for freedom, personal immunity and right of justice fixed in paragraph 5 and 6 of the Convention. The discussions revolved around the practice of application of the European Convention and judicial precedents.
Upon workshop’s completion, meeting with CE experts – consultant of the General Directorate of Human Rights program Kzishtoff Ziman, professor of Swedish Institute after Raul Wallenberg Ineta Ziemele, professor of London University of England Philip Lich took place. Deputy Justice Minister Togrul Musayev stressed that the workshop was quite fruitful for judges and noted the significance to conduct such meetings on this subject. Touching upon the overall studying of the international legislation on human rights, he emphasized the cooperation between General Directorate and Justice Ministry towards this issue. Having appreciated legal reforms in Azerbaijan, the guests expressed satisfaction with keen interest showed to the Convention in Azerbaijan.
