Internet Explorer 9 to protect users from tracking on Web
Baku, December 9 (AZERTAC). Microsoft Corp. will provide the ninth version of Internet Explorer with the protection function against tracking on the Internet. The new function will allow users to ban some sites from tracking their activity on the web.
Innovation aims to protect users from collecting their personal data in the web, including the history of visited sites, searches or making purchases in online stores.
New feature of the browser, designed against threat to privacy, comes from third party companies (advertising Internet agencies, content providers) seeking to obtain information about user preferences on a par with the owners visiting resources. The user usually becomes unaware of the network connections between the browser and third-party resources to accumulate information about the online activity.
New feature called Tracking Protection and is based on lists where user can specify which sites are forbidden to accumulate information about the user.
Note that the move was made by Microsoft just a week after the Federal Trade Commission USA (FTC) recommended creating a do-not-track system for Web sites that bans sites from collecting unauthorized consumer data.
After the announcement of the new features, FTC Chairman Jon Leibowitz said he was happy with the actions taken by the world’s largest software developer.
