ISSUE ON TURKS-MESKHETINS RETURN DISCUSSED
Georgia is not ready to discuss the issue on Turks-meskhetins return, President of Georgia Eduard Shevardnadze stated. At the traditional briefing, he said: “Our current situation, as well as conflicts in Abkhazia and Southern Osetia and some other problems do not let to discuss this issue. Despite that, eventually, justice has to triumph and Turks-meshketins have to return their native lands. We will gradually solve this problem”.
It should be reminded that in 1999, before admission to the Council of Europe, Georgia engaged to return IDPs - Turks-meskhetins replaced in Stavropol and Krasnodar regions of Russia to Georgia.
