JOURNALISTIC EXPEDITION “THE CASPIAN: PARTNERSHIP FOR FUTURE” LAUNCHED

The first international journalistic expedition “Caspian Sea: partnership for future” launched en route Astana-Moscow-Astrakhan. Expedition is being implemented under the auspices of the Presidential administrations of Kazakhstan and Russia and organized by the oil company “Kazmunaygas”, ITAR-TASS, “Lukoil” etc. The work of the expedition of over 60 media representatives from Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Uzbekistan and various ecological organizations will consist of three stages. The major part of the first stage will be held in Astrakhan from 16 to 18th of September to discuss geopolitical, economic, social and ecological problems of the Caspian Sea. Eminent scholars and political scientists, public figures of Russia and Kazakhstan will partake in the debates. The second stage (September 2003-September 2004) envisages drafting and publication of Caspian sea-related articles in the Kazakh and Russian press. These articles will be gathered in a book under the title “Caspian Sea in the Third Millennium”. The third stage of the expedition will be held in September 2004 in Kazakhstan.
