KHOJALI GENOCIDE DEDICATED
In her remarks, the Ambassador said that after collapse of the USSR, Azerbaijan as the other republics experienced hard, difficult period. Speaking of the crucial problem of the Republic – Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorny Karabakh conflict, the Ambassador informed on its tragic sequences, noted that the Armenians occupied 20 percent of the Country’s territories, over one million of people became refugees and IDPs.
Dwelling on the Khojali genocide, the Ambassador updated the visitors on the atrocities the Armenian militants committed towards the peaceful population of the Khojali settlement over the night of 25 to 26 February in 1992, expressed hope that the world community would give a deserved assessment to this crime.
Ms. Eleonora Huseynova informed that despite the problems Azerbaijan faced in this period, there was established socio-political stability in the Country, development of economy, and accomplishments in the democratic and legal state construction under the late President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev.
Decrees and orders of President Ilham Aliyev have opened new perspectives in the field of socio-economic development, improvement of life conditions of population, the Ambassador emphasized. She stated that large projects being implemented with the participation of foreign companies, including French companies, in participial, the Baku- Tbilisi-Ceyhan Main Export Pipeline would promote to create a powerful and strong Azerbaijani state in the near future.
