Last Serbian indicted war crimes suspect arrested

Baku, July 20 (AZERTAC). Goran Hadzic, Serbia`s last war crimes suspect has been arrested. President Boris Tadic confirmed in a press conference that the Croatian Serb suspect had been arrested in the north of the country.

Serbia`s last major war crimes suspect has been arrested.

In a press conference broadcast live on national television, Serbian President Boris Tadic confirmed that Goran Hadzic had been taken into custody in the Fruska Gora mountain region of northern Serbia.

"This morning at 8:24 am Goran Hadzic was arrested. With this Serbia ends the most difficult chapter in its cooperation with The Hague tribunal," Tadic said.

The Croatian Serb suspect was being held in the detention center at the Belgrade special court for war crimes.
