According to the ‘Los Angeles Times’, Ilham Aliyev’s new appointment will be, from the point of view of the coming elections, realization of the democratic reforms, as well as future of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan MEP, important. The author notes that during the period of Heydar Aliyev, Azerbaijan, along with the close relations with America and Turkey, could establish balanced relations with the Russian Federation and Iran. The newspaper, referring to the opinion of specialists, writes that many consider Ilham Aliyev’s appointment as a Premier, as a part of the sustainable transition of the country. Ilham Aliyev has been for ten years in the power and the people know him well. Before President Heydar Aliyev came to power there was nothing, but instability in the Country.
Along with coverage of position of the some opposition circles on Ilham Aliyev’s new post, the ’Chicago Tribune’ also recalls statement of the assistant press secretary of the Department of State Philip Rieker. The newspaper writes that the official Washington considers that Ilham Aliyev’s appointment as a Premier fully corresponds to the Constitution of Azerbaijan and hopes for joint cooperation with the new head of the Cabinet of Ministers.
