Mahir Darziyev: Kakha Kaladze is the leading candidate for Tbilisi mayor

“Georgia`s ruling “Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia” party has put forward the candidacy of Deputy Prime Minister, Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze for the mayor of Tbilisi,“ member of the Georgian parliament Mahir Darziyev has told AZERTAC.
Darziyev said: “Kakha Kaladze is an influential public and political figure in Georgia. He is famous not only in Georgia, but also in brotherly Azerbaijan. He has done well in all areas and proved that he deserves to be a mayor of Tbilisi.” According to the MP, other parties also named their mayoral candidates. “Kakha Kaladze is the one who deserves this post the most among them.”
“I am confident that Kakha Kaladze will win in the initial round of the elections,” Darziyev said.
Georgia will conduct elections to local self-governing bodies this October. Apart from municipal elections, Tbilisi mayoral elections will also be held. Under the new laws, the mayor of Tbilisi will be elected for a four-year term.
The Georgian President will announce the exact date of the elections in the near future.
