The Japanese delegation led by Chairman of the Japan-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Friendship League Akira Amari now staying in Baku on an official visit met on 30 August with deputies of the Milli Majlis.

Head of the Azerbaijan-Japan Interparliamentary group of the Milli Majlis Aynur Sofiyeva noted that the relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries laid in the course of the official visit to Japan by our nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev in 1998 are gradually developed and deepened. She pointed out the importance of reciprocal visits of the parliamentary delegations and their positive impact on further strengthening of economic and cultural ties

Head of the Japanese delegation Akira Amari noted that his country considers Azerbaijan as its partner. In 1998 in Japan I had personal meeting with Heydar Aliyev and can say he was an outstanding person with very strong political will, he said. Mr. Amari also mentioned that his delegation consists of over 40 experienced politicians representing Liberal-Democratic party.

Present at the meeting was Ambassador of Japan to Azerbaijan Toshiyuki Fujiwara
