MEETING IN MILLI MAJLIS
During the conversation Arif Rahimzadeh noted in particular that the documents signed in the course of the reciprocal visits by the heads of state had created favorable conditions for development of cooperation in many spheres.
President Pervez Musharraf’s recent visit to Baku has opened new prospects with this respect, he said. According to the vise-speaker, the solid friendly relations exist between the two countries’ parliaments as well - parliamentarians of Azerbaijan and Pakistan adhere common stance at international events that is another evidence of the successful cooperation.
Speaking of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, Arif Rahimzadeh expressed his gratitude to the Pakistani government for the support of the Azerbaijan’s fair position.
Thanking for the warm meeting, General Mohammad Aziz Khan noted that his country is very interested in development of cooperation with Azerbaijan. According to him, successful political cooperation has created favorable conditions for expanding cooperation in cultural, economic and military spheres. He said, in this connection, that following the visit by President Pervez Musharraf, this one is aimed at widening links exactly in these fields.
Pakistan stands for resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict only in the framework of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, and this policy will remain unchangeable, the General said.
Finally, Mohammad Aziz Khan asked the vice speaker to convey to the Chairman of the Milli Majlis warm greetings and invitation to visit Pakistan from his counterpart.
Present at the meeting were Chief of the Milli Majlis Administration Safa Mirzoyev, top-ranking officers of the Defense Ministry, Ambassador of Pakistan to Azerbaijan Mohammad Hafiz and other officials.
