Meeting of Council for physical culture and sport of CIS states kicks off in Qabala

A meeting of the Council for physical culture and sport of the parties to the agreement on cooperation in the field of physical culture and sport of the participating states of the Commonwealth of Independent States has today started in Gabala, Azerbaijan.
The event attended by high-level officials of the physical culture and sport ministries of Azerbaijan, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.
The meeting dedicated to 25th anniversary of the establishment of the CIS features discussions on preparing common work plan and policy of the members states of the Commonwealth of Independent States in physical culture and sports field, implementation of the national strategy on physical culture and sports till 2020, as well as preparing the work plan project for 2018-2020.
Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov provided an insight into the governmental care to sports in the country and spoke of Azerbaijani sportsmen’s achievements in international sports competitions.
Azerbaijani Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Ismayil Ismayilov, Russian Deputy Sport Minister Pavel Kolobkov, Chairman of the Committee for Sports and Physical Education of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan Elsiyar Kanagatov and others also made speech at the event, and spoke of the work done for the development of physical culture and sports and achieved results, as well as the importance of the joint cooperation.
The two-day event will feature discussions on the preparations for the festival of national sports of CIS countries to be held in Russia in 2017.
