MEMORY OF JAVAD KHAN REVERED
Governor General of the Caucasus Tsisianov got an order from Alexander II in 1802 to seize Ganja. Then, the Governor sends a letter to ruler of Ganja Javad Khan on voluntary capitulation. Javad Khan rejects this offer. These actions entailed bloody battle, which caused the killing of Javad Khan and tens of civilians. The thankful people of Ganja do not forget these pages of battle of the Azerbaijani people against the invaders, and often remember this period of glorious history.
After regaining of Azerbaijan’s independence, Javad Khan’s grave was restored and it became the place of reverence.
