MILLI MAJLIS MEETING PRECEDES SPRING SESSION
Opening the meeting, Murtuz Alasgarov reported on the draft plan of lawmaking activity at the parliament’s spring session to commence on March 1. M. Alasgarov stressed the necessity to discuss actively all the bills initiated by the President of Azerbaijan in order to strengthen the legal base of ongoing reforms in Azerbaijan.
It was noted that the spring session would focus on the very important draft laws, and the second and third readings of those uncompleted during the previous session.
Chief of the Milli Majlis administration Safa Mirzoyev said the lawmaking activity plan consisted of 27 items includes such documents as “On Protection of Names of Juridical Persons (names of companies)”, “On Administrative Procedure”, “On National Security”, “On Intelligence and Counter-intelligence”, “On Control over Export”, “On Minimal Standard of Living”, “On Azerbaijani Carpets”.
Deputies Milli Majlis chairman Ziyafat Askarov, Govhar Bakhshaliyeva, chairmen of permanent commissions Zahid Garalov, Eldar Ibrahimov, Sattar Safarov, Adi Rajabli, Shahlar Askarov, Asya Manafova and Sirus Tebrizli put forward their opinions, remarks and proposals on the legislative activity plan.
Summing up the meeting results, Milli Majlis speaker Murtuz Alasgarov said that draft legislative activity plan for the spring session is basically good. As time passes, the new bills will be undoubtedly included in the plan. It is necessary to take immediate actions within short time towards “On Education”, “On Science and State Scientific-Technical Policy” bills. According to him, the bill specifying the authority of municipalities attracts a special attention.
Then, Murtuz Alasgarov wished every success to the meeting participants and expressed hope that the spring session would be held at a high level.
