MILLI MAJLIS VICE-SPEAKER MEETS OSCE PA SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE ON NAGORNO-KARABAKH CONFLICT
Baku, 13 February (AZERTAC). Vice-speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament (Milli Majlis) Bahar Muradova has met today with visiting OSCE Parliamentary Assembly`s Special Representative on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict Goran Lennmarker.
Muradova briefed Lennmarker on reforms being carried out in Azerbaijan and preparations for the referendum to be held on March 18 in the country.
According to her, Azerbaijan is curious about expanding relations with the OSCE and its structures.
She underlined that her country plays a significant role in energy and food security, fighting against terrorism, as well as protection of human rights and freedoms. She also expressed hope that all these issues will be reflected in a report to be drawn up by Lennmarker on the results of his trip to the South Caucasus region.
Goran Lennmarker, in turn, said that Azerbaijan is developing very rapidly, both politically and economically, and described the country as the “leader” of the region.
“Dynamic development increases Azerbaijan`s responsibility even more. That is why, the country, with its great economic potential, should play a leading role in all issues including the security one,” Lennmarker noted.
He also stressed that all internally displaced persons must return to their homelands, and that it is their right.
The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
