MM DELEGATION’S VISIT COMPLETED
In the course of the visit, the Azerbaijani parliamentarians had meeting with Custodian of Two Holly Mosques, the King of Saudi Arabia Fahd ibn Abdel Aziz, Chairman of the Consultative Council Dr. Saleh ibn Abdalla Homeyd, second deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation Prince Amir Sultan ibn Abdel Aziz, Mayor of Riyadh province, Prince Salman ibn Abdel Aziz and other high-ranking officials.
The meetings were mainly focused on development of interparliamentary links, brotherly and friendly relation, unity of Islamic countries, Nagorno-Karabakh problem, prospects of both countries’ economic development, cooperation between the governments of Azerbaijan Republic and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in various spheres, as well as combat against terrorism and other important issues.
During the meetings, Chairman of the Milli Majlis Murtuz Alasgarov spoke of the history of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, contribution of our nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev to this area, dwelled on the traditions of parliamentarism in Azerbaijan, and Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh. The Chairman expressed gratitude for unambiguous support of Azerbaijan to the leadership and people of Saudi Arabia.
The parties expressed confidence of progress in further development of mutual cooperation between our countries, strengthening interparliamentary links and expanding exchange of experience in lawmaking.
The delegation also visited holly places of the Islamic world, the cities of Mecca and Medina, and saw the historical sights of the country.
On February 22, the delegation of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan led by Chairman Murtuz Alasgarov returned to homeland. At the Bina international airport, the delegation was welcomed by the first deputy Chairman of the Milli Majlis Ziyafat Asgarov and other officials.
