MM SPEAKER MEETS WITH PACE RAPPORTEUR
O. Asadov said important steps to ensure human rights and fundamental freedoms are being taken in Azerbaijan and CoE rapporteur’s mission will contribute to this process.
Milli Majlis speaker said that during his recent meeting with PACE president Rene van der Linden in Tallinn he informed of the objectivity of Leo Platvoet’s report on the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan.
O. Asadov expressed his confidence that the results of the present Leo Platvoet’s mission will be objective too. According to the head of the parliament, L. Platvoet’s task is rather difficult and complex and audacity is needed to fulfill it. O. Asadov expressed his confidence that PACE representative will cope with this task.
Leo Platvoet thanked MM speaker for the high assessment of the report on the parliamentary elections returns and said that he is going to meet Rene van der Linden to discuss the issues concerning Azerbaijan.
Then, L. Platvoet said that the main aim of the mission is to prepare recommendations to solve the problems regarding refugees, migration and population.
Then, the meeting focused on a number of other issues of mutual interest.
