MOURNING CEREMONY HELD IN NAS
In his opening speech, Vice-President of NAS, academician Arif Mehdiyev said: “Our people faced a bereavement, decease of the national leader Heydar Alirza oglu Aliyev. He will always stay in history of Azerbaijan as the prominent personality. Heydar Aliyev devoted his life and activity to the Motherland, his people and its happiness. He established, developed the modern Azerbaijan state and achieved its recognition all over the world.
Speaking on the historical merits of President Heydar Aliyev for the Country and people, Mr. Mehdiyev pointed at the facts how invaluable role in life of Azerbaijan he had played in the very difficult moments, in particular 1990-93s.
In their speeches, academicians Akif Alizade, Budag Budagov, Musa Musayev, Akif Hajiyev, Ali Insanov, NAS Corresponding-member Garib Mammadov and others expressed their boundless sorrow on demise of prominent statesman Heydar Aliyev. The participants told on titanic work of Heydar Aliyev within past 34 years in the name of people happiness, on exceptional role in strengthening of independent Azerbaijani state, fruitful results of his farsighted domestic and foreign policy, expressed their confidence that worthy successor of this policy President Ilham Aliyev would continue his success.
