National cyclist third in “Porec Trophy”
Baku, March 11, AZERTAC
The cycling event “Porec Trophy”, which brought together many sport lovers, was held in Croatia.
The participants of the one-day event overcame the distance of 143 km.
Azerbaijani Maskim Averin finished third in the “Porec Trophy”, reaching the finish at 03:25:59 seconds and taking his second consecutive podium.
This victory gave him another 16 points to participate in Rio-2016 Summer Olympic Games.
Earlier, the national sprinter for the Synergy Baku Cycling Project was second in the Umag Trophy and fifth in the GP Izola.
Averin won the race in 2014, but the course was changed and made more difficult this year.
The race featured seven laps of a rolling circuit course, with the final three kilometers slowly climbing, making a difficult closing sprint.
Maksim's next destination is a four-day competition “Istrian Spring Trophy”" (2.2 category) to be held in Croatia on March 12.
