NATO TO OPEN OFFICE IN CAUCASUS

According to the information received by AzerTAj, NATO will open its office in the Caucasus shortly, NATO Secretary General, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer told.

“Relations between the NATO and counterpart countries develops according to their individual interests and wishes,” said Scheffer. “Only they are responsible to decide the development level of the cooperation with the NATO.”

The existence of NATO in Caucasus and Central Asia is very important, because of the NATO activities in Afganistan, said Scheffer. He also expressed his satisfaction on the current improvement of relations between the NATO and Georgia.
