NEW ALTERATIONS IN CRIMINAL CODE OF TURKEY IN WORLD FOCUS
Issue of admission of Turkey to full member of the European Union will be discussed at the EU regular summit, in December 2004, AzerTAj correspondent reports. The EU member states pay special attention to the socio-political processes taken place and alterations in the legislation of Turkey. The clause on introducing punishment for infidelity in the draft of the Criminal Code was in the focus in both Turkey and the European countries.
The European politicians and lawmakers underline that this clause contradicts human rights, and its adoption would cause serious damage to the relations between Turkey and the EU.
Taking into account wide debates, on September 14, deputies of the Great National Assembly of Turkey excluded this clause from the draft that has been positively perceived in both Turkey and abroad.
