NEW PUBLIC MOVEMENT SETTING UP
On July 1, a meeting that gathered the chiefs of Groups of the Public Organizations took place at the building of the Azerbaijan Confederation of Trade Unions (ACTU). As stated, the participants of the meeting adopted a decision on establishment of public movement ‘In the name of New Azerbaijan’ to support the candidacy of the national leader of Azerbaijan people Heydar Aliyev at the upcoming October 15 presidential elections. According to the meeting participants, the key goal of setting up this movement was to attract public attention to the election campaign of the founder of the Independent Azerbaijan, Head of the Azerbaijani State Heydar Aliyev and turn elections of 15 October into genuinely popular movement for the sake of stability and powerful Azerbaijani State. At the meeting, the participants formed an organizational group, comprised of academician Akif Alizadeh, Member of Parliament Zelimkhan Yagub, PhD, professor Kamal Abdulla, and Member of Parliament – ACTU chairman Sattar Mehbaliyev, as well as Mubariz Gurbanli and chairperson of the Association of Women with University Degree Tamam Jafarova. Thus, the Group was entrusted to prepare and conduct a constituent conference of the movement.Constituent conference of the movement ‘In the name of New Azerbaijan’ is due on October 4, in Hyatt Regency Hotel. About 200 public organizations, reputable intelligentsia representatives, men of science, education, culture, art are expected to join this movement.
