NEW VOLUME OF HEYDAR ALIYEV’S COLLECTED WORKS PUBLISHED
A new, 11th volume of Heydar Aliyev’s collected works beginning with the aforementioned words of the late President has been published in the “Azerneshr” Publishing House in Baku.
Ramiz Mehdiyev, head of the Presidential Administration is responsible for the issue, in which materials related to the historical visit, from July 27-August 6 collected. President Heydar Aliyev attached high significance to this visit. Answering the journalists, ‘what he expects from this visit”, President said: “ I expect a lot”; creation of the joint normative documents concerning our relations, new impulse for their development, large propaganda and spread of Azerbaijan realities in the United States of America. Unfortunately, within past years, the USA and numerous other countries of world have no reliable, fair and objective information on Azerbaijan. We have carried out this work, and the situation and public opinion have changed. But, it should do a lot, and I think, it will do in the course of my visit”.
As known, those words of President Heydar Aliyev were fully justified. In the course of the visit, President Heydar Aliyev held on different levels the 88 meetings in New York, Washington, Houston, and Chicago. The culmination was tкte-а-tкte meeting with President of the United States Bill Clinton held in the White House, as well as negotiations in the enlarged staff. Result of these meetings became signing of extremely important documents – joint statement on American- Azerbaijani relations, inter-governmental agreement on mutual protection and encouragement of investments, agreement on establishment of American-Azerbaijani inter-governmental dialogue in the field of energy and four contracts between SOCAR and the US oil companies.
Materials on each meetings held with the President Heydar Aliyev in frame of the visit, - UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, NATO Secretary General Javier Solana, US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, Ministers of Defense, Finance, Energy, Trade, well-known Senators and Congressmen, WB President, representatives of the business circles of USA, including heads of the popular companies, representatives of the UN Security Council member states, heads of the Conference of Presidents of the US Jewish organizations, making high influence on political and economic life of the United States were included in the book.
That historical visit was in the focus of the leading mass media of the United States and all over the world, in particular, “Institutional Investor”, “Wall Street”, “New York Times” and others.
The book narrating on this historical event, which opened new stage in the relations between Azerbaijan and the United States is completed with the statement regarding the conclusions of the visit made by President Heydar Aliyev for the journalists, as well as telegram of gratitude to the President Bill Clinton.
Materials collected in the book cover only a short period of intensive work of President Heydar Aliyev in the field of popularization of Azerbaijan independence all over the world, protection of its nationals interests, spread of Azerbaijan realities. Turning over the pages of book, we, as ever, become witness of genius Heydar Aliyev and feel pride, vivid evidence of which is the opinion of former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright: “ I have never seen another such President, who was welcomed in the United States on such high level and made so successful visit, as Heydar Aliyev.
