OMBUDSPERSON SUBMITS PROPOSALS TO MILLI MAJLIS

In accordance with the March 26 2004 resolution of the Milli Majlis “On Annual Report of Commissioner for Human Rights in Azerbaijan Republic”, Ombudsperson Elmira Suleymanova has submitted to the Parliament the proposals on ensuring human rights and freedoms, and improvement of legislation regulating the Commissioner’s activity.

The most important of them are the issues concerning provision of human civil and political rights, establishment of procedure of lodging an appeal against administrative decisions in Administrative Offences Code, improvement of the Institute of Advocacy by introducing substantial amendments in the law “On Lawyers and Advocacy” and others implying widening the courts’ latitude and scope of their controlling functions, etc.
