President of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Rene van der Linden, speaking on 28 February in Brussels before commissions of the European Union on freedom of citizens, legal issues and interior affairs, has called for simplification of visa regime in perspectives.

Attempt of some countries to complicate the visa regime can lead to destruction in future of PACE and EU, founded due to intensive work, what is completely inadmissible.

Noting that adoption of visa regime creates conditions for secret immigration, increase of facts of criminality and occurrence of serious problems on borders, PACE President called for implementation of the clauses of PACE Resolution 1648 adopted in 2004, on free move of citizens of the member-countries of the Council of Europe and expansion of the European Union.

It is regretful that the citizens of the Eastern European countries face such artificially created problems, the PACE President said, and in several cases without any instruction receive refusal. Abolishment of visa regime or its simplification can play special role in leisure of the youth, play important role in rendering assistance to development of ethnic groups, residing in the countries with common roots, exchange of students and elimination of conflicts.
