Pakistan welcomes PKK dissolution

Pakistan has welcomed the announcement of the dissolution of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), calling it a significant step toward lasting peace and a terror-free Türkiye.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in a post on the social media platform X, said this historic development reflects the unwavering resolve of the Turkish leadership—under President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan—and the Turkish nation to continue their march toward reconciliation, unity, and stability. He added that Pakistan and Türkiye remain committed to rooting out terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
In a statement issued in Islamabad, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: “The Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan welcomes the announcement regarding the dissolution of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). We consider this development an important step towards sustainable peace and stability.”
The statement also emphasized that Pakistan and Türkiye, bound by deep-rooted fraternal ties, have always supported each other in all areas of mutual interest, including counterterrorism efforts.
Earlier, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party announced its plan to disband and disarm the armed group, effectively ending its conflict with Türkiye. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan hailed the announcement as a step toward peace and fraternity in the country. The PKK stated that it has decided to dissolve its organizational structure and abandon its armed struggle.
