Participants of AZERTAC internship program receive certificates

First-year students of the Faculty of Journalism at the Baku State University (BSU), who have attended the three-month internship program at the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC) received certificates on Tuesday.
The students familiarized themselves with the conditions created in AZERTAC’s new building. They viewed the museum and photo booths depicting the large-scale activities of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva.
During the meeting with students, AZERTAC Chairman of Board Vugar Aliyev highlighted the agency’s history and current activities.
The students were informed that AZERTAC wires in Azerbaijani, English, Russian, French, German, Arabic, Chinese and Spanish languages the round-the-clock news covering socio-political and economic issues, as well as science, education, culture, health, sports, the environment and other fields. The Agency, which has been around for more than a century, has valuable journalistic traditions and experience.
Speaking about Azerbaijan’s historic victory in the second Karabakh war, Vugar Aliyev said that under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s glorious Army had put an end to the 30-year longing of Azerbaijani people in 44 days. Journalists have a huge responsibility to convey the historic Victory to future generations and in general, to protect and promote the right cause of the country. He pointed out that nowadays, more efforts should be made to make the media both accurate and operative.
The Board Chairman emphasized that AZERTAC is not only the primary source of official news about Azerbaijan within the country and for foreign media organizations, but also a reliable information resource for the general public. Each day, more than 500 news, photo and video materials in 8 languages are released on the news feed of the agency with its stories on major events taking place in the country covered by international media.
Vugar Aliyev underlined that special importance is given to the training of young personnel. Saying that journalism has changed under the influence of new technologies and social media, he noted that new forms have emerged in delivering information to society.
As he handed the students their certificates, the Chairman of the Board invited them to work closely with AZERTAC.
Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Journalism at the Baku State University (BSU) Samir Mirzayev was also present at the meeting.
