Parviz Shahbazov: Future cities will generate more value with less energy

“In Garabagh and East Zangezur, 38 hydropower plants with a combined capacity of 307 MW are operational. In addition, solar power plants with a capacity of 340 MW are under construction, 7 MW of rooftop solar panels have been installed, and preparations are ongoing for a 240 MW wind power plant,” said Azerbaijan`s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov in his remarks at a special session on “Cities at the heart of connectivity: Urban reconstruction and regional cooperation” held as part of the WUF13.
He noted that Azerbaijan has established institutional mechanisms for energy efficiency and created an Energy Efficiency Fund, aimed at reducing energy consumption and losses, improving resource management, and developing smart infrastructure. He added that Azerbaijan seeks to expand investments in this field, stressing that future cities will generate more value with less energy.
