PC shipments fall short of analysts` forecasts
Baku, October 14 (AZERTAC). Analyst firm Gartner and IDC have released statistics for purchase of computers worldwide.
According to Gartner, in the third quarter 2010 sales of computers in the world grew 7.6 percent compared to the same period of last year. Gartner says that their expectations fell short: they previously predicted a growth of 12.7%. Gartner says modest totals are attributable to a projected drop in world demand after a significant growth in the market over the past two years and decline of interest in PC in the United States and Western Europe, BFM reports.
HP (17.5 percent), Acer (13.1) and Dell (12.2) remain the top three players in the computer market.
Analysts from IDC, in turn, recorded 11% increase in world supply of computers for the third quarter of 2010, however they had previously forecasted a growth of 14%, www.co.com.ua reports.
IDC analysts also named HP, Acer and Dell as the largest suppliers of computer companies.
It is worth noting that such data from the largest analyst firms usually do not significantly differ.
