In accordance with the item 6 of the Presidential decree “On improvement of the state pensions system in Azerbaijan Republic” of August 4, 2003, State Social Security Fund has been charged with the application of microprocessor-based cart system in Baku and Sumgait cities and other province centers.

40 thousand pension plastic cards have been distributed so far in Baku while 10 thousand – in Sumgait. Besides, 200 cash dispensers have been installed in Sumgait and Baku. This number will reach 250 very soon. There are estimated 230 thousand pensioners in these cities. On average, each cash dispenser will serve 1000 pensioners. All the pensioners in Baku and Sumgait will be provided with plastic cards by late April. The distribution and using of cards are free of charge. Besides, the Fund workers will go to pensioners’ places upon their request in order to serve them using mini-cash dispensers.

Two ads clips were shot to let the pensioners know about the cards.

The switch to the system of up-to-date pension payments will be completed by late 2004.
