PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV GIVEN THE TITLE OF HONORARY DOCTOR OF THE UNIVERSITY OF JORDAN
President Ilham Aliyev, on July 29, in Amman, was given the title of Honorary Doctor of the University of Jordan.
At a ceremony on this occasion, Rector of the University Hani Dumor said the Scientific Council had decided to give this honorary title to the President Ilham Aliyev for his distinguished work aimed at development of relations between Azerbaijan and Jordan, and establishment of international peace and security.
President Ilham Aliyev thanked the Scientific Council of the University for the award, and provided the audience with detailed information about the steadily developing relations between Azerbaijan and Jordan, reforms being held in Azerbaijan, importance of the international projects implemented in the country, the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh. He emphasized that Armenia continues to ignore decisions and resolutions by international organizations, including the Organization of Islamic Conference.
The President also touched upon the Azerbaijan’s role in ensuring European energy security.
He noted there was a huge potential for expansion of Azerbaijan-Jordan cooperation in all fields, and expressed confidence in further development of the bilateral relations.
After the ceremony, President Ilham Aliyev met with the teaching staff of the University and Azerbaijanis living in Amman.
