PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV SENDS GREETINGS TO PARTICIPANTS IN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE “FOR DEMOCRACY AND STABILITY: NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR COOPERATION”
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has sent a message of greetings to the participants in the international conference “For Democracy and Stability: New Opportunities for Cooperation” to commence in Baku Wednesday.
The message reads:
Esteemed participants in the conference,
I extend my heartfelt greetings to you, the participants of the international conference “For Democracy and Stability: New Opportunities for Cooperation” devoted to the 85th birthday anniversary of the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev.
In the contemporary world, which prioritizes democratic values and human rights, ensuring peace, stability and security is of extreme importance.
The experience of the states in transitions shows that ensuring stability, sustainable development, social progress and national unity is a key condition for consolidation of democratic values in political, legal and social areas.
It is with pleasure that I would like to point out that as important components of the universal values, the democratic norms and principles completely correspond with Azerbaijan’s present-day socio-political environment, which is based on historic traditions, tolerance and civil society building.
This is why Azerbaijan has managed to create its own social model and achieve national unity and rapid progress.
Our country has achieved the world’s fastest economic growth four years in a row. This has substantially increased the possibilities of our young independent state, to make valuable contributions to the international and regional cooperation. Today, Azerbaijan is rightly regarded as one of the most reliable partners to ensure international energy security.
Therefore, I believe it is no coincidence that delegates from more than 30 countries have gathered for the international conference “For Democracy and Stability: New Opportunities for Cooperation” in Baku.
Dedicating the conference to the 85th birthday of the national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev imparts a particular significance to it.
It was during Heydar Aliyev`s presidency that the Republic of Azerbaijan embarked on the course of democratic development, and took decisive steps towards civil society building. He made serious efforts for putting an end to the Armenian military aggression, release of 20 percent of the territory of Azerbaijan from occupation, return of over a million refugees and internally displaced persons to their homes and establishment of sustainable peace in the South Caucasus.
Having realized the Heydar Aliyev-initiated large-scale transnational energy and transport projects, Azerbaijan has made a substantial contribution to emergence of new opportunities for not only regional but also international cooperation.
I am convinced that the participants in the international conference will have a fruitful exchange of views on democracy and stability - one of the most topical problems of nowadays, evaluate new opportunities for regional and international cooperation at its true worth and make their own contribution to this important process.
I wish the conference every success.
I wish the cooperation expand for democracy and stability.
