PRESIDENTIAL DECREE MADE PUBLIC
President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev issued a Decree on pardoning of a number the convicted who are experiencing imprisonment term at the places of confinement.
Under the Decree, whereby, it is stated that “following the policy of the Azerbaijani state basing on humanism and justice principles, in respect to human rights and freedoms, taking into consideration the appeals of the convicted, members of their families, NGOs, Ombudsman of human rights addressed the President of Azerbaijan Republic, and convincing in the moral impact of the act on the future life of the convicted in the free society, under the Article 109/22 of the Constitution of Azerbaijan Republic”, 160 prisoners have been pardoned and freed.
The President of Azerbaijani Republic also pardoned some other inmates and lessened their punishment.
The Decree enters into force on the day of signing.
