PRIVATE SECTOR LEADS IN CARRYING PASSENGERS

66,3 million tons of cargos were carried in the transport sector of Azerbaijan in January-July 2004 that is by 6,9 percent higher than in corresponding period of the last year. 37,6 million tons or 56,7 percent of them were carried by private sector. Natural persons working in motor transport carried 30 million tons of cargo and 310,8 million passengers, State Stats Committee said.

Motor transport carried 54,4 %, pipelines 15,7%, trains 17,6 % and ships 12,3 % of goods.
