The Russian gas giant Gazprom - established $235 per thousand cubic meters has forced Azerbaijan to refuse importing the “blue fuel” from its northern neighbor, “Azneft” Production Company official told AZERTAC.

To satisfy local needs for natural gas, a special program stipulating production of 8 billion cubic meters of gas in 2008 has been prepared.

Of nine holes drilled between January and June of 2007 in the Gunashli field under the program, seven have already been put into operation, and two are under development. Daily production from these holes is 4 million 755 thousand cubic meters of gas and 266 tons of condensate.

The program also implies drilling over 20 additional holes and bringing the daily production capacity to 5-6 million cubic meters.

Over the six-month period, a 23.3 km long high-pressure gas line was laid from Gunashli’s platform No 14 to the Oil Rocks’ compressor plant. Construction of the 18-km low-pressure gas line connecting the Oil Rocks with the platform No4 is approaching the end.

The “Nefgaztikinti” (OilGasConstruction) Trust of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan SOCAR) continues activities on enlargement of the platform No 11 in the Guneshli field.
