PROTEST OF GEORGIAN AZERBAIJANIS
Opening the meeting chairman of the “Georgian Azerbaijanis Community Development Center” Mubariz Garayev stated that allegations of the meeting organizers on irregularities during the parliamentary elections in the region Kvemo Kartli-Borchali mainly inhabited with Azerbaijanis are groundless. He noted that opposition leaders who tried to undermine stability in Georgia should realize that their intentions are doomed to fail and the Georgian people would never give way to provocations.
Chairman of Marneuli district Majlis Huseyn Yusifov, former deputies of Georgian Parliament Ramiz Bekirov, Zumrud Gurbanov, Hdayat Huseynov, leader of people’s movement “Geyrat” Alibala Askerov and others condemned actions of the opposition leaders conducting unofficial meeting and urged President of Georgia to maintain stability in the country, take measures to restore law and order, punish opposition leaders slurring Georgian Azerbaijanis.
The meeting participants adopted an address. The document says Azerbaijani population of Georgia will henceforth support authorities, which take care of its welfare and peaceful future. We express protest against forces yielded to political groups’ ambitions and urge all political forces to give up insulting our human and citizen’s dignity.
We firmly state that if our demands are not met we would have to defend our people from aggression unleashed in the center of Tbilisi, we are ready to defend our choice and will not let anybody abuse our votes.
